Test method of activated calcium carbonate (CaCO3)

2017/10/12

At present, because of its good filling performance, CaCO3 particles are widely used in polyester, plastic, paper and other chemical industries. According to its processing technology and application, it can be divided into surface modified and unmodified CaCO3. The surface modified CaCO3 particles are easy to form stable and uniform dispersion state in distilled water, and the particle size can be directly measured by laser particle size analyzer. The experimental data of the dispersion of CaCO3 are as follows.

Test conclusion:

1 and modified CaCO3 have strong hydrophobicity, so they can not be tested without dispersant.

2. The surface tension of water is greatly reduced by the addition of surfactant, which is similar to that of alcohol. Both methods can be used.

3. Because the addition of surfactant is easy to blister and affect the test results, it is suitable for static test when water is used as the medium, while it is suitable for static and dynamic test when alcohol is used as the dispersion medium.

4. When alcohol is used as medium, there is no obvious difference between the results with and without electrolyte dispersant, so dispersant can not be added in the test.
